A region may cover the entire map or even single point, but for design purposes a region covering such a tiny area would be impossible to see, which is why Point objects exist.

The Region layer is similar to the Point layer except it allows you to place two dimensional planes that cover an area of the map. Point objects that can be placed are: Normal Points, Start Locations, Sound Emitters, and 3D Points. These objects do not appear in the game and in a sense are merely variables that store a coordinate. The point layer allows you to place Point objects that can be used in triggers and scripts, etc. The unit layer allows you to place units and buildings from all races, resources, destructible objects, and more.ĭoodads are props, such as structures, environment props, pathing blockers, and many more. Modifiable in the Terrain layer are textures, roads, height of terrain, cliffs, foliage, water, and terrain objects. This button will set the current layer to Terrain for modification. This action will take any layer object on the clipboard and paste it into the respective layer. This action is similar to Cut, but the original instance of the layer object is not deleted and a copy or template of the object is also placed on the clipboard. This action will take any currently selected layer object, make a copy of it on the clipboard, and delete the original instance of the object. This action will re-perform any action that was undone up until the Undo Limit or if a new or similar action is performed, which will be made the last performed action. This amount can be altered by going to and selecting the General section. The default and maximum amount of actions stored is 256. This action will undo the last action performed in any of the layers, such as addition or deletion of terrain, unit(s), doodad(s), point(s), region(s), camera(s), and pathing. Otherwise to save as a new document, go to in the menu bar. If a new document is opened, a file name will be requested. Open documents can be closed by going to in the menubar. Any currently opened documents are open and accessible by selecting the menu item.

This will allow you to open any previously saved documents, files uploaded to the servers, and campaign files. Any open documents can be closed by going to in the menubar. Any currently opened documents are still open and accessible by selecting the menu item. This will open a window that displays a list of options for creating a new document. Below is a brief description of each button and what is does. The toolbar provides nice large buttons to easily switch between the different modes for editing your document. The editor is comprised of serveral different panels as shown in the next figure, which will be discussed individually next. When the editor is first started, a new map is created as shown in the figure below.
